Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 05, 2015 (SKNIS): An expert in international citizenship and foreign direct investment said the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme remains the oldest, most trusted and most popular of its kind in the world and commended the local government for its robust strategy in charting the way forward.
The Group Managing Director of the United Kingdom-based CS Global Partners, Micha-Rose Emmett, gave the government high marks for the reforms being made to strengthen the programme and its engagement with stakeholders. In her comments, she referenced the inaugural national consultation on the CBI held last Thursday (July 30) and said this was testament to the new vision.
“I applaud the government for taking the initiative to set up the consultation because I think communication is very important and … every stakeholder who is a part of this process, and that includes government, real estate developers, service providers, immigration agents, international agents and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, need to understand the process and need to understand what it [the CBI] is about,” she stressed.
Ms. Emmett reinforced that all partners have a role to play in ensuring accountability, communication and collaboration in the process.
In relation to the screening and due diligence process for approving applications for economic citizenship, government has engaged multiple and reputable international sources. The international expert said government has proven that it is receptive to recommendations.
“I think the government is very, very committed [to the CBI] and they are very aware what needs to be done,” she emphasized. “I’m excited about the changes that are going to happen.”
Those changes are expected to lead to enhanced efficiencies that promote even more confidence in the CBI programme and ensure the contribution to the social and economic development of the twin-island federation remains intact.
CS Global Partners have been officially authorized by the government of St. Kitts and Nevis to manage applications under the CBI programme.
