St. Kitts Ranks Among The New York Times’‘52 Places to Go in 2015’

By: St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Press Release

The Island is Lauded as Both Upscale and Sustainable

Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 11th, 2015) – The St. Kitts Tourism Authority is pleased to announce that St. Kitts is officially ranked #34 of the “52 Places to Go in 2015” by The New York Times. It is one of just three Caribbean countries to make the list.

The St. Kitts section of the article is written by Baz Dreisinger, who has previously visited the island for Music Festival.  She noted that St. Kitts is known for its Music Festival, but that new hotel developments will put the island “on the map for luxury.”  The article further cites Christophe Harbour including its new mega-yacht marina, Salt Plage beach club, Tom Fazio golf course and the Caribbean’s first Park Hyatt along with Kittitian Hill, which she calls “not just a lavish resort but a sustainable community.”  The YU Lounge, which “will make the influx of upscale travelers feel right at home,” is also included.

The New York Times is one of the most prestigious publications in the US and reaches an affluent audience. The print publication alone is read by approximately 3.6 million people. The NYTimes.com website is the #1 individual newspaper website in the U.S., reaching over 28 million unique monthly visitors.

The article first appeared in The New York Times on January 11, 2015, in both print and online mediums including the publication’s weekly Travel Dispatch e-newsletter.
