Man shot on Fort Thomas Road

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WHILE some were preparing to retire for the night (Aug. 25), the sound of gunshots rang out along Fort Thomas Road in Irishtown, where a man was reportedly shot.

The incident occurred either shortly before or a little after 9:00 p.m. and, while information is sketchy, it was confirmed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley.

Queeley said he did not have much information at the time but pointed out that one person was injured.

Residents of the Fort Thomas Road and surrounding areas told SKNVibes that they heard the report of gunshots and disregarded them until the sound of sirens were heard.

The injured man was reportedly removed from the scene by a unit from the Emergency Medical Services and taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the victim was shot in the head, and at press time he was still receiving treatment for the injury.

Members of the Police Force, including the Crime Scene Unit, and officers of the Defence Force were at the scene securing it and making investigations.

More information will be disseminated via this media house once it becomes available.
