Acting Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd
By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, who were in Dominica when Tropical Storm Erika struck and caused mass destruction to that island, are doing well and are said to be assisting with rescue efforts.

This was the confirmation given by Acting Commissioner of Police Stafford Liburd yesterday (Aug. 28) during a police event at the Police Training Complex.

SKNVibes understands that concerns were raised about the officers, especially as reports coming from Dominica indicated that several individuals lost their lives and more were missing during the flooding.

There was a sigh of relief however when the Acting COP informed that the officers were all doing well. He also expressed his hope that they would remain safe and wished them the best.

In a brief interview with SKNVibes, he informed that shortly before the storm hit Dominica on Thursday (Aug. 27), the officers, a female Corporal and two male Constables, had arrived on the island for Regional Security Service Jungle Training.

Liburd said the training was to have commenced on Monday (Aug. 31) but he is not sure if it would begin on that day or on a later date because of the rescue effort.
