At approximately 10:30 p.m., the sound of gunshots was heard coming from the direction east of Carty Alley in Newtown.

On investigating, this media house observed a small crowd had gathered on Pitcairn Street, approximately 30 metres off Pond Road, where the motionless body of a young man was seen on the roadway with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his chest.
