Noah G. Mills Announced as New Carnival Chairperson

Noah G. Mills
By: SKNIS, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 31, 2015 (SKNIS) -- In commenting recently on that state of national Events, the Hon. Shawn K. Richards declared that the Unity Government has inherited a richly-packed calendar of sporting, cultural, educational, social and other activities for St. Kitts and Nevis.  For example, he noted that “since our mandate by the people in February of this year to manage the Country, we have successfully hosted CARIFTA Games, CPL, Music Festival, and Culturama. We now have upon us, the National Carnival, which is hosted annually, from December thru January. Against this backdrop, we have recruited a new Carnival Chairperson, in the likes of Noah G. Mills.

In describing Mr. Mills, the Deputy Prime Minster recorded that he thought Mr. Mills is fully qualified for the position as Chairman of Carnival.  Academically, he is now working on his Ph. D. in Business Administration. “This gives him the acumen to treat our National Carnival Product as a Business, from a Fiscal, Marketing, Management, and Consumer Satisfaction standpoint,” the Minister of Culture rendered. Mr. Mills is also the Owner and Managing Director for SEN Consulting, a locally-registered company that provides Business Consulting, Marketing, Employee Developmental Training, and Events Management Services locally and regionally.  This real life experience would allow him to be well-networked, which is yet another useful attribute.

As it relates to his practical involvement in Culture, Media, and Festivals, the Minister outlined that Mills served for many years as the President of Easter-Rama, the predecessor to the now thriving Black San Festival in Sandy Point.  Further, Mr. Mills has sponsored, chaperoned, and coached several Queen Contestants at various levels across St. Kitts and Nevis over the years.  He has also volunteered as a Radio Commentator for Carnival and Culturama; as a Judge for Calypso and Queen Pageants’ and has written many Calypsos and Contestant Speeches for various Pageants. More so, Mills can boast that he sang calypso at the Junior Calypso level here in St. Kitts amongst the likes of Ayatollah, Keebo, and Big Lice just to name a few.   And to this extent, the records will show that he was Junior Calypso King for St. Kitts in the 1980’s.

Quite recently, Mills served as the Coordinator for Volunteers at the 2015 CPL and received halos and kudos from the Management Team, Volunteers, and Spectators alike.  Additionally, he was the pioneer who introduced the VIP Experience in Nevis for Culturama 2014, and he again worked closely with the Nevis Island Administration and the Culturama Secretariat to host the VIP Experience for Culturama 41 about five weeks ago.

Richards stated that he had met personally with Mr. Mills and Mr. Sylvester Anthony in a joint meeting, and there should be a smooth transition as time is of the essence.  “Both have assured me that they will work closely to ensure that the Carnival Product continues to be of a high standard.”  Richards then went on to openly register sincerest thanks and appreciation from the Government and all other stakeholders to Mr. Anthony for his tremendous performance and contributions over the past four years as Carnival Chairman.  “Such a position calls for sacrifices of time, energy, monies, and other personal resources, and Mr. Anthony has given selflessly in all respects, Richards reported.

Richards noted also, that to date, Mr. Mills had already presented quite a number of new and exciting ideas in terms of further improving the overall Carnival experience, and that he was convinced all stakeholders would welcome and enjoy said upgrades. He has also began recruitment for Committee personnel, which will be key if Carnival is to be successful.

Richards closed by thanking all repeat Corporate Partners and invited other Sponsors to come on board to support our Carnival. Additionally, he thanked the media, past and upcoming contestants, vendors, volunteers, patrons, and all other stakeholders who have continued to support Carnival in the past and those who will contribute to Carnival 44 and beyond.
