Bottling Company launches four new Sparkle flavours

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ADDING to its Sparkle brand repertoire, the St. Kitts Bottling Company yesterday (Oct. 1) unveiled an additional four flavours to complement the existing six, all of which are already available for sale.

The launch of the new flavours, Grape, Orange, Tropical Cola and Tropical Fizz, took place in grand style at Fisherman’s Wharf in the presence of past and current employees of the St. Kitts Bottling Company, representatives of groups which are sponsored by the company and members of the media.

General Manager Keithley Phillip, in giving an overview of the birth, growth and transitional periods of the company, said the unveiling represented “the metamorphosis” of the business especially since only this year the contract it had for the production of Coco-Cola products had been severed.

Glenville Jeffers, Executive Director of the TDC Group of Companies of which the St. Kitts Bottling Company is a subsidiary, also spoke at the launch, conveying the Group’s support for the Bottling Company in its programmes and in particular its launch of the new flavours.

One of the highlights of the event was a brief dance by the Sparkle Girls, each of whom was attired in clothing that complemented the particular flavour they represented.

Popular local artiste ‘Infamus’ represented well, when he performed a remake of his hit song ‘Love St. Kitts’ to incorporate the Sparkle brand and the St. Kitts Bottling Company. The gathering was informed that Infamus was recently signed as the Sparkle brand ambassador.

During the question and answer period, Phillip disclosed the reason for choosing these flavours, noting that they have been “tried and tested”.

“These would have been produced under a different brand and since that partnership has ended we can do our own. In the mixing room, we have over 100 years of experience which translates to plenty tweaking of flavours, so the new flavours are the benefit of over 100 years of mixing experience.”

He promised that sometime in the new year the St. Kitts Bottling Company would be rolling out a number of other “healthier drinks”.

“What we are experiencing here today is just the launch of the first wave of products. Our next wave would put us into the healthier drinks, the non-carbonates, the mixed drinks, the juices etc. Very early in the new year we would be coming to you again with the actual products.”

Following the launch, attendees were invited to taste the new flavours.

As an extension of the launch, an open day was later held at the Bottling Company plant.

The other flavours of the Sparkle brand are Sorrell, Lime, Banana, Ginger Ale, Cream Soda and Kola Champagne.

In addition to St. Kitts and Nevis, Sparkle drinks are sold in Montserrat, Tortola, St. Lucia, the BVI, the USVI, St. Eustatius and Anguilla.

The new flavours are being produced in both the 20 and 11 ounces bottles.
