CANQATE Leaves Quality Footprint on Tertiary Education Initiatives

Dr. Ruby Alleyne, President of CANQATE
By: SKNIS, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 09, 2015 (SKNIS): Dr. Ruby Alleyne, President of CANQATE, has revealed that for the 12th Annual Conference, CANQATE plans to leave its footprint on each hosting country starting with St. Kitts and Nevis.

Dr. Alleyne stated that after a fruitful event, members tend to leave a host country "better for the experience but perhaps not having had the lasting impact on the quality culture of the host country."

For this reason the board, which she leads, has launched the CANQATE Quality Footprint Initiative.

Through the quality footprint initiative, each year the members of the board of CANQATE will invest their time and expertise to deliver a presentation to the stakeholders in the country in which the conference is being held.

The CANQATE President referenced Tuesday's workshop where all the members of the board participated in a presentation to secondary school students in St. Kitts and Nevis on the value and importance of accreditation.

"The feedback was very positive and the events were very well attended. We also had the opportunity to interact with the students," said Dr. Alleyne. "In this way we were able to leave our first quality footprint behind and we look forward to the continuation of this initiative in the years to come."

Dr. Alleyne stated that CANQATE will continue to grow in relevance and importance in the region, as quality tertiary education plays an increasingly important role in social, cultural and economic development.

The conference ran from October 7 to 9, 2015.
