BVI, 23 October 2015 - Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. Honourable Kedrick Pickering will attend The Aruba Learning Event and the sixth annual Green Conference taking place in Aruba from October 26 to 28.

The two-day conference themed “Share Sustainability,” is expected to attract over 500 delegates with over 27 nations represented from around the world.  Prime Ministers, senators, senior government officials, regulators, utility executives, engineers, and investors will gather to share experiences and learn about renewable energy solutions.

Deputy Premier Pickering said the Territory will benefit from the conference as renewable energy has been a topic of discussion among ministers and stakeholders.

He said, “This Government is always looking for means and ways to improve the quality of life of the people of the Territory.  By attending this conference we hope to return with innovative and practical ideas which we can implement, in order for us to benefit from cleaner, more environmentally friendly sources of energy.  By embracing the use of renewable energy we can expect, among other things, a lower cost on our energy bills as well as a cleaner environment.”

Green Aruba VI will be partnering with a number of international and regional agencies that will provide a comprehensive approach for the Caribbean community, share knowledge about renewable energy solutions, and take action on the common challenges faced by this region.

The Green Aruba VI is an annual conference that has existed since 2010, and was organised with the sole purpose of diligently working to transition to 100 percent fuel independence.  Green Aruba uses the conference as a forum to showcase Aruba’s progress and challenges, as well as the experiences and knowledge of other institutions and island nations in this field.

Honourable Pickering is scheduled to leave the Territory on Sunday, October 25 and is expected to return Friday, October 30.
