Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 28, 2015 (SKNIS): The Ministry of Health is currently celebrating Dental Health under the theme “Let’s Be Seen with Good Oral Hygiene”. A number of activities have been scheduled to commemorate Dental Health Week which started on Sunday, 25 October, 2015 and will end on Friday 30 October, 2015.

The first event scheduled was a church service at the Cayon Church of God. Media presentations geared at sensitizing the public on the importance of dental health have also been planned for the week. These presentations were scheduled to run from Monday 26th to Thursday 29 October, 2015 at the various media houses throughout the Federation such as ZIZ, WINN FM, Kyss FM, Freedom FM and SKNIS.

A Dental Seminar at New Horizons Rehabilitation Centre is planned for Friday, October 30.

A number of events are also scheduled for the month of November. These include a dental health workshop where an Action and Implementation Plan for an Oral Health Survey is expected to be formulated.

According to the Ministry of Health, all of the activities that have been scheduled to commemorate Dental Health Week 2015 are aimed at reinforcing the components of good oral hygiene maintenance; some of these practices include brushing the teeth after each meal, flossing twice daily, rinsing with antimicrobial mouthwash and visiting the dentist every six months for a check-up.
