By: Peter Ngunjiri, Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (November 6, 2015) -- Rains held up Thursday night (November 5) and the Harris Basketball League continued on the Molineux hard court with two games involving two teams that had not seen much action since it opened, Redemption Squad and Ballaholics, taking to the court.

Games due to have been played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were rained out. It was therefore a welcome break for the faithful basketball fans that turned out to watch the two games.

In the first game, Redemption Squad beat Inner City Ballers 82-68. Redemption Squad’s Livan Lee scored 26 points, and returned 13 defensive rebounds, 11 offensive rebounds, five assists, four steals and four blocks.

Others were Te’Andre Chapman (25 points, three assists, and three steals), Terrell Wattley (11 points, four defensive rebounds, four offensive rebounds, and three steals), and Darius Bedford (nine points, four defensive rebounds, three offensive rebounds, two assists, and five steals).

Scoring for Inner City Ballers were Sylvester Whyte (24 points, three defensive rebounds, and four offensive rebounds), Ansel Revan (15 points, five defensive rebounds, six offensive rebounds, three steals, and one block), and Leverette Taylor (15 points, three offensive rebounds, two steals and two assists).

The second game of the evening saw Free Up beating Ballaholics 69-60. Free Up were determined right from the start having clearly led 23-9 at the end of first quarter, 37-17 at half time and 54-37 at the end the third quarter. Ballaholics managed to close the gap in the third quarter, but did not have enough energy to win, losing by a mere nine points.

Scoring for Free Up were Tamboura Caines (23 points, six defensive rebounds, two offensive rebounds, and two assists), Bertrum Richards (17 points, four defensive rebounds, three offensive rebounds, two assists, and two steals), and Alex Thomas (17 points, eight defensive rebounds, six offensive rebounds, and two steals).

For Ballaholics, Troy Wattley led the way with 23 points, 10 defensive rebounds, five offensive rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Others were Raheim Searles (17 points, five defensive rebounds, seven offensive rebounds, and two assists), and Junior Davis (seven points, three defensive rebounds, and two defensive rebounds).

According to league commissioner, Crace Lewis, action continues on Saturday and Sunday. Three games will take place on Saturday, the first one will pit Redemption against Mantab, the second game will be a continuation of the game between Ottleys and Ballaholics that had been interrupted by rain, while the final game will be between current league leaders Strivers and Free Up.

“Because of the weather, games are subject to change,” said Mr Lewis. “Two games are on the card for Sunday. The first one will be a continuation of the game between Strivers and Redemption Squad that had been interrupted by rain earlier, while the second game will be between Fair Share and Ballaholics.”
