November 12th, 2015 -- Horsford’s Group of Companies continues to fortify its support for the development of Calypso with a pledge of over $10,000 in cash and kind.
The commitment was formalized recently when the Legends Entertainment Group , organizers of the Legends Calypso Tent were presented with a cheque confirming the company’s Platinum sponsorship of The Legends Calypso Tent, under the leadership of local calypso icon, Sylvester “King Socrates” Hodge. The Legends Calypso Revue was established over a decade ago and has grown into the Premier Calypso tent in St. Kitts-Nevis.
Boasting some of the federation’s top proponents of the art form including multi-time Calypso Monarch King Socrates himself and reigning National Carnival and Culturama Monarch King Astro, in addition to popular performers Lady Diva, Provoker, Dwighty, Sparta, Lord Felix, Allamoulou, Calypso Craig, Singing Jenifer, Magoo among many others. The tent has been extremely successful over the last few years producing many of the Calypso Monarch finalists. . Mr. Wallis Wilkin , Marketing Manager of the Horsford’s Group, presented Hodge with a cheque which represented the company’s financial commitment to the tent. Mr. Wilkin indicated that his company’s contribution will be further enhanced through the provision of various services to the tent.
“Horsford’s has been a huge supporter of the development of youth, culture, calypso and carnival over the years with the commitment of hundreds of thousands of dollars to various carnival, calypso and cultural events,” said Wallis Wilkin of the Horsford’s Group. “This commitment falls in line with our company’s traditional eagerness to support and contribute to the overall enhancement of calypso, carnival and our culture. So we are certainly pleased to make this significant contribution.” Wilkin continued.
