Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 17, 2015 (SKNIS): Minister of Tourism Honourable Lindsay Grant has stated during the November 17 sitting of Parliament that the industry is on an onward and upward movement in terms of cruise tourism which is in line with the Government’s prosperity agenda.

“We are here to do the people’s work and to put more money in the people’s pocket,” he stated. “We are not here to give empty talk and when we would have completed this five years of governance, the people would say a job well done and another five years for us.”

The minister mentioned that on November 8, St. Kitts welcomed the Norwegian Getaway for it first visit to the Federation. Then on November 16, the country welcomed another first, the Norwegian Spirit. The MS Anthem of the Seas also visited the Federation for the first time on November 17. Minister Grant revealed that the ship brought to the shores 6,296 passengers with a crew of 2,384.

“That is not all because in addition to the Anthem of the Seas being in our shores today, we have two other ships in our shores bringing some 10,000 plus visitors to the shores of St. Kitts and Nevis,” he said. “That is what we are doing. This Government is working. The Government is not sitting down by a desk. This Government is working on behalf of the people.”

Minister Grant said that persons are in agreement with the prosperity agenda and assured that this is what they will deliver to the public.

The minister commented that the Anthem of the Seas is a testament to that agenda as it is the third largest ship in the world.

The upcoming year will see the berth of the Oasis of the Seas which is the largest ship in the world and on July 22 of that same year, the Federation will welcome Carnival Fascination, which will bring the 1 millionth cruise passenger.
