By: SKNIS, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 19, 2015 (SKNIS): Dr. Everson Hull, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OECS) has credited his ability to function in his new role to his formal education.

In a recent interview with Ambassador Hull, it was revealed that after obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in economics at Howard University and a Master’s degree at the University of Maryland, he returned to Howard to become the first recipient of a PhD in Economics. A recognition which he states makes him extremely proud.

“This degree has not only allowed me to make a gainful living in a number of areas but it has also allowed me to strengthen my ability to address a wide number of issues of major national importance many of which relate to St. Kitts and Nevis,” stated Dr. Hull.

The Ambassador said that although his desk is physically abroad, “my heart and soul has always been here in St. Kitts and Nevis.”

“So I've written articles in newspapers periodically addressing a number of contemporary issues relating to commercial banking and other topics especially with respect to this issue,” stated Dr. Hull. “I fortunately along the way had an opportunity in serving as the head of money and banking at the Congressional Research Service on Capitol Hill, addressing many of the questions that were being raised in the committees of Capitol Hill. So, I do have some background in the banking area which helps me to appreciate the level of difficulties that they are dealing with.”

Ambassador Hull stated that his experience in economics was just one of the reasons why the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris deemed him suitable for the position.
