Gunmen rob multiple Half Moon residents

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SEVERAL residents of the Half Moon area were the victims of a string of armed robberies that took on Friday evening (Nov. 20), one of which resulted in a vehicle being stolen.

A police report issued last evening (Nov. 21) explained that a couple was robbed of a sum of money and their white CRV. And while the press release did not indicate this, SKNVibes was reliably informed that one of the individuals is the Assistant to the Brazilian Ambassador to St. Kitts.

“According to station reports, a resident of Half Moon Courtyard reported to police that sometime after 9:00pm on Friday night, he along with his wife were at home when attacked by two (2) masked men, dressed in black, wearing gloves and carrying guns and robbed them of US 300.00. The assailants then stole and drove away in the victims white CRV Jeep.”

The communiqué further explained that other reports made indicate that other residents in the “multi-unit building at Half Moon Courtyard” were also victims of the reported serial robbers. The police have indicated that the victims’ description of the assailants’ attire and type of weapon used and modus operandi are corroborative.

“Station reports further indicate that several other residents in various apartments in a multi-unit building at Half Moon Courtyard, reported that they were robbed while in their apartments by two (2) masked men of US $1500. The assailants then moved to another apartment in the building and robbed the occupants of ECC $300.00 and a third apartment where they robbed that tenant of US $2700.00 and also took ECC $200.00.

“All of the victims reported that the men were dressed in all black with masks and gloves and carried guns. They took their phones to prevent them from calling the police.  After the robbery, the phones were returned to them. At which time they called the Police for assistance.”

It is believed that the stolen vehicle was also used in another incident involving a male.

SKNVibes understands that the male is reportedly a student of an offshore university.

“Later that same night another report was made to the Frigate Bay Police Station. That report stated that a male victim indicated that while driving along Half Moon Bay he noticed a white CRV driving behind him, he stopped and signaled the vehicle to pass. He says a man dressed in all black, approached the vehicle and hit him on his head with what appeared to be a gun.”

The vehicle, according to police, was found along the Factory Road in the Kittstodart area, was processed and turned over to the owner.

The police, via the communiqué, have expressed that they appreciate the assistance provided by the public and that Assistant Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley has called for cooperation of members of the public is the fight against crime.
