Federation Wins Three of the Eight Categories Including ‘Best in Show’

BASSETERRE (24TH November, 2015): St. Kitts enjoyed a seat at the ‘winner’s table’ for the 2015 Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Media Awards Luncheon, held in Toronto this past Tuesday, November 17.

St. Kitts was awarded Best Feature Article in a Trade Publication, for the article entitled “A New St. Kitts,” written by journalist Ilona Kauremszky for Travel Industry Today.

“It is an honor for St. Kitts and the Federation to receive such high accolades at this Awards event, as Canada is an important source market for visitors to the destination,” said the Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant, Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce. “During my series of meetings in Canada this August, we updated select members of the press on the status of our new developments and the direction for tourism moving forward, which will continue to pave the way for further growth in the Canadian market."

Part of the program of activities for Caribbean Week Canada, the Media Awards luncheon revealed a triple triumph for the Federation.  In addition to the award for the Best Feature Article in a Trade publication for St. Kitts, Nevis won two awards, for Best Feature Article in a Consumer Magazine (“Living in the Past” by Josephine Matyas for Doctor’s Review) and Best of the Best (“Living in the Past” by Josephine Matyas for Doctor’s Review.).

The Best of the Best Award is chosen from among the seven winning articles, giving the twin-island Federation three out of eight possible awards chosen from among a field of seventy total article entries.

The event celebrated some of Canada’s top travel writers and photographers in recognition of their outstanding coverage of Caribbean destinations.
