(EMU) – St. Kitts, November 30, 2015: National Examinations Registrar Solomon Claxton has released the Caribbean Examination Council’s (CXC) Scholarship Rank Order Listing for St. Kitts and Nevis. The listing is based on candidates’ performance on the 2014 and 2015 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). Candidates are ranked by the highest number of Grade 1 passes obtained in seven qualifying units and then other criteria in the event of a tie.
The rank order is as follows:
1. CHRISTIAN BRYDEN Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College Eleven (11) Grade I passes
2. TYLER MARTIN Nevis Sixth Form College Six (6) Grade I passes
3. JAMALJE BASSUE Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College Six (6) Grade I passes
Christian Bryden of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College is the 2015 State Scholar. Christian offered eleven (11) subjects and obtained eleven (11) Grade I passes in Biology Units 1 and 2, Caribbean Studies, Chemistry Units 1 and 2, Communication Studies, Geography Unit 1, Physics Unit 1 and 2 and Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2. Christian also achieved the Most Outstanding performance in Natural Science.
Tyler and Jamalje both gained six (6) Grade I passes from seven (7) qualifying units. In accordance with the established criteria for determining a tiebreak, CXC computed the General Module Performance for them and it was determined that Tyler had 16 – As, 4 – Bs and C and Jamalje had 15 – As, 4 – Bs and C.
Therefore, Tyler Martin of the Nevis Sixth Form College is therefore the 2015 State Runner-up State Scholar and Jamalje Bassue of Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College is the 2015 Second Runner-up State Scholar.
Tyler offered eight (8) subjects and achieved grade ones in Communication Studies, Economics Unit 1, Law Units 1 and 2 and Management of Business Units 1 and 2; two (2) Grade II passes in Caribbean Studies and Economics Unit 2.
Jamalje offered eight (8) subjects and achieved grade ones in Biology Units 1 and 2, Chemistry Units 1 and 2, Communication Studies and Geography Unit 1; two (2) Grade II passes in Caribbean Studies and Pure Mathematics Unit 1.
The Ministry of Education extends congratulations to Christian Bryden, Tyler Martin and Jamalje Bassue on their achievement and best wishes as they pursue further studies.
