University of the West Indies Open Campus St. Kitts Guild Chapter

Officers and positions held
Press Release

January 12th, 2016 -- The St. Kitts Chapter of the University of the West Indies Open Campus is pleased to announce the creation of its Guild of Students for the Academic Year 2015/2016. The Guild of Students (Open Campus) is the recognized means of communication between the students of the Open Campus as a body and the authorities and Officers of the University and the Campus.

The objectives of the UWI Open Campus Guild are to encourage:

    (a) The furtherance of the educational and social purposes of the University of the West Indies.

    (b) The furtherance of the common interest of the members of the Guild.

    (c) The advancement and promotion of unity and fraternity among members of the Guild.

    (d) The establishment of an efficient and effective Student Guild and its governance.

    (e) Representation and participation in the activities of the University.

    (f) Its members to participate with high-level ethics and uniform conduct within the University community.

    (g) The promotion and upholding of the University’s image inside and outside the campus by working in cooperation and close solidarity with the students.

    (h) The establishment of an alliance with other Student Guild or organizations or movements.

The Guild will provide a voice for the students that are pursuing studies at the St. Kitts Open Campus site, as our ultimate aim to improve the student experience. During the academic year we hope to foster a new outlook that outlines the functions of the UWI Open Campus and the benefits that it provides to the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis.  By partnering with both public and private sector organisations, it is our aim to provide opportunities by offering technical and financial assistance to students enrolled within the Open Campus.

We encourage the general public, specifically individuals who are considering pursuing tertiary level education, to visit the Open Campus Site, which is located on the Bay Road (opposite the Cenotaph), Basseterre or by calling 465-2190 to make an appointment to speak to a Student Advisor, to obtain information on how they too can enrol in the programmes offered.
