Newtown and Cayon FC to face off tomorrow

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ALL roads lead to the Warner Park Football Stadium tomorrow (Feb. 6) as the two top teams in the National Bank-sponsored/SKNFA Premier League will square off in their quest to be crowned champions of the League.

Winners Circle Newtown United will lock horns with Flow 4G Cayon Rockets tomorrow (Feb. 6) from 8:00 p.m. in the second match of a doubleheader.

Both teams are tied on 27 points with six games in the league still to play, but Newtown FC is at the top due to a superior goal difference.

Cayon Rockets FC will be beaming with confidence following the three free points gained from their last round after Bath United failed to show up for the rescheduled encounter on Tuesday (Feb. 2).

Meanwhile, Newtown FC had a more torrid time when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Ram’s Village Superstars which are now sixth on the table with 16 points. Elco St. Peter’s Limited also have 16 points but are ahead due to superior goal difference.

St. Peter’s had a goal fest in what may be termed a one-sided affair in their match against Rivers of Living Water. The match ended  8-nil  with a hat trick coming from Yanick Harris in the 12th, 52nd and 63rd minutes, while Kevin Benjamin netted two in the 3737th and 74th minutes, Imron Ponteen one in the 29th minute and Kadeem Rawlins found the back of the net in the 70th minute.

Before the match between Winners Circle Newtown United and LIME 4G Cayon Rockets kicks off, fans will see seventh place Fast Cash SPD going up against Bath United from 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Rivers of Living Water will be looking to halt SOL Island Auto Conaree’s push to the top of the table when the battle starts at 4:30 p.m., and H.E. Garden Hotspurs will be taking on defending champions S.L. Horsford’s St. Paul’s United at 7:00 p.m.

And on Tuesday night (Feb. 9), ELCO Limited St. Peter’s will be clashing with Ram’s Village Superstars at 7:00 p.m. at the same venue.

Meanwhile, an advisory from the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association said that with effect from tomorrow, all players attending matches would get a 50 percent reduction in their entry fees to the venue.
