Student wounded in fight near Washington Archibald High

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A number of students were involved in a fight yesterday afternoon (Feb. 10) near the Washington Archibald High School which reportedly left one wounded.

SKNVibes caught wind of the incident but was unable to substantiate the claims at that time. However, this media house has since been reliably informed that a group of male students were beating each other with sticks during the altercation and other weapons may have been introduced.

It was suggested that a male had been shot as a result of the altercation but subsequent reports suggested that he was stabbed.

Attempts to contact Director of Communications for the Police Force Grell Browne to seek information about the incident were unsuccessful.

Contact was however made with Assistant Commissioner of Police Terrance James, who indicated that he could not provide a comment because he was not intimately familiar with the circumstances of the incident.

This publication understands that police officers were summoned to the scene and investigations are being made.

The commission of violent acts by students in and around schools has been of grave concern for some time. Questions were asked about whether or not and how the Ministry of Education as well as the security forces could join hands in clamping down on this behaviour.
