BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT seems like only yesterday Felicia Silcott won the LIME Miss Black San’ Swimsuit crown but, believe it or not, a year has since elapsed and the contestants for the 2016 competition have been officially launched.

The grounds of the Ocean Terrance Inn provided the perfect atmosphere for the six beauties to present themselves on Saturday evening (Feb. 13) as the potential crown-wearers for what is now known as the FLOW Miss Black San Swimsuit Competition.

The ladies, in order of appearance are: Olivia Barzey, Vashina Bolus, Jahmila Francis, Patoneia Gilbert, Sheneka Henry and Avis Glasgow.

After being welcomed on stage by Chairperson Jakeema Flemming, the sensational six strutted onto the stage, gave a brief performance, introduced themselves to the audience and spoke a bit of what they expect to take from the competition.

All appeared confident and most indicated that they would be taking the crown on the night of the show.

Chairperson of the pageant’s organizing committee Treasa Wyatt, indicated that this year’s event would see the introduction of another segment, the TOP Model/TOP Designer segment. She said it would feature designers from across the Caribbean and that it would give them a chance to showcase their pieces. She also noted that the organisers are hoping to collaborate with magazines which would promote and showcase the swimsuit designs as well as the contestants.

Anthony Morton, FLOW’s Customer Sales Manager, said the telecommunications giant recognizes the contribution of community events and that has made it easy for the company to sponsor the event over the years.

He indicated that the winner would walk away with a Samsung Galaxy S phone, although he did not indicate which of that line would be the prize.

The girls take centre stage on March 27 where they are expected to wow the patrons and judges with their poise, physique, creativity and intelligence. May the best contestant win!
