Basseterre, St. Kitts – March 18, 2016: Several young residents of St. Christopher Children’s Home are pursuing their studies on solid footing thanks to the continuous support of IGT and Caribbean Lottery. Through IGT and Caribbean Lottery’s After School Advantage programme, the home this time received a donation to the tune of XCD$3,000 which was used to provide each child with much-needed textbooks.

St. Christopher Children’s Home on July 23, 2014, officially opened their After School Advantage centre which was equipped with six computers, two printers, an overhead projector screen and computer software provided by Caribbean Lottery.

Caribbean Lottery’s donation of funds for the purchase of textbooks is an indication of the company’s long-term commitment to its After School Advantage partners, and its mission to equip vulnerable children with the skills and knowledge to participate in the global community.

“We were very pleased to have opened an After School Advantage centre at St. Christopher’s Home and happier still that we have been able to continue our partnership. Technology is a very important tool for accessing education and we were glad for the opportunity to contribute in another way through the provision of textbooks for the children. We look forward to continuing our work with St. Christopher’s home and making a difference in the way the children expand their knowledge base,” noted Brendan Hames, Account Development Manager for IGT Antilles Lotteries.

Margaret Steven, Administrator at St. Christopher Children’s Home thanked IGT and Caribbean Lottery for the donation: “We are grateful for the donation of XCD$3,000 and we were able to purchase necessary textbooks for each child. The demand for textbooks is great and therefore this donation was very well-received,” she said.

Caribbean Lottery’s parent company, IGT, sponsors the After School Advantage programme, its global corporate philanthropic initiative. Through the After School Advantage programme, vulnerable children aged 5-18  are  provided with access to technology through the donation of internet-ready computer equipment and educational software to non-profit organisations.
