By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A remanded inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) was found dead last evening (Mar. 26) in the Psychiatric Ward of the JNF General Hospital.

Dead is one Joseph Tyson who was remanded to prison on Wednesday (Mar. 23) on a charge of malicious damage.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that while at the correctional institution, Tyson had exhited psychopathic tendencies and was placed in a cell by himself.

This information was confirmed by Superintendent of Prisons Junie ‘Scrape’ Hodge, who also indicated it was reported to him that Tyson had refused to eat food offered to him at the facility and was said to have been eating his own faeces.

Consequently, he was taken to the JNF Hospital on Friday for medical evaluation and was admitted to the Psychiatric Ward, where he also reportedly refused to eat.

Hodge also stated that he received a report last night that sometime after 6:00 p.m. when attendants at the hospital went to check on Tyson, they found him unresponsive and he was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

“Tyson’s family members were informed of his death and an autopsy will soon be carryout out on his remains,” Hodge said.
