RAM’S Family Fun Day provides bonding at Black San

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THERE are not many activities that cater to all members of a family, but there are those which see success in this regard and promote a greater bond among the unit’s members.

As part of the 2016 Black San Bang-a-Lang celebrations, the RAM’S Family Fun Day was held at the beginning of the Easter Weekend at the Sandy Point Hard Court.

The event got off to a slow start at 2:00 p.m. but gained considerable momentum as the afternoon and evening progressed.

The available games and activities were wide-ranged and fun-filled.

Some children got their favourite mask or image painted unto their faces while many others capitalized on the inviting castle. With shoes left on the outside, the children leapt and bounced to their hearts’ content inside the bouncing castle.

The Ring Toss, an activity in which both adults and children participated, was one that challenged their skill and hand-eye coordination. With several bottles laid out, an individual is given a set of rings and the aim is that he or she tosses each ring with the hope of having it land around a bottle.

The bottles were labelled with the name of the prize that the participant would win if he or she was successful.

    Balloon pop anyone?

As this game was approached, a series of balloons taped to a chalk board were seen and it was obvious that, because the objective was to pop the balloons, something was missing. And then the real challenge was revealed. The participant was required to stand behind a particular point and throw darts at the balloons.

SKNVibes’ staff and associates even got in on the action. And while a particular individual was not as successful as this writer was at the game, he was more than pleased to walk away from the event with the winnings. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Pool games, Lucky Dips, Spin the Wheel and chances to win baskets of goodies were also part of the event.

In an interview with SKNVibes, Coordinator of the event Nikki Farier explained that it was a fusion of a family fun day and the Game Show Night and one of its main aims was to encourage bonding and socialization amongst family members.

She expressed that this bonding is to be encouraged, especially since communities are only as strong as the families within them.
