Coming home with PRIDE!

By: PRIDE, Press Release

SANDY POINT, St. Kitts and Nevis (March 31, 2016) - They've won multiple SKABA (St. Kitts Amateur Basketball Association) titles but their hearts were always in Sandy Point, and now they're ready to lead their community!

In 2011, the marquee duo: Taslin 'Mini-Wade' Belboda-Hodge and Sheeno 'Jeezy' Liddie left Sandy Point after leading the Falcons to five Junior league championships to join Challengers Exodus, in search of a more structured senior basketball program. In their first year at that club they were major contributors to a historic undefeated SKABA 'A' division campaign en route to capturing the division championship. Within months, not even the island's Premier League could muster up sufficient resistance, as they copped Runner up in 2012, and went on to undefeated championship seasons in 2013 and 2014.

On the wave of this success, these big names in national basketball have set their eyes on Sandy Point, with the hope of reviving the game and recruiting fresh blood to rep their hometown.

“Our relationship with Sandy Point is bigger than basketball. Our feet might have left but our hearts were always at home! Hopefully, we can impart the lessons learned over the past six years for the benefit of our team's younger and less experienced players," said Taslin 'Mini-Wade' Belboda-Hodge- Team Captain speaking on behalf of his teammate.

Their return is being brokered by the newest sports club on the island, Pride Basketball, and being backed by successful start-ups, including Humble Beginnings Clothing and Open Interactive Inc., both of which are owned by Sandy Pointers. Pride Basketball has a plan to inject a new zeal into amateur sports in Sandy Point and aspiring ballers are its first target.

"It is inherently important for all of us to give back, especially to the community from which we came.  To that end, we will do whatever we can; however, we can; and wherever we can to help to facilitate Sandy Point PRIDE Basketball Team's success.  The possibilities are infinite! STAY HUMBLE...STAY HUNGRY...WE GOT THIS! " said Mr. Trace Edinborough- CEO & Founder of Humble Beginnings Clothing Line.

"The club was formed in 2015 with a clear goal of contributing positively to sports within the community, whether it's through grassroots initiatives or facility improvements. We are very excited about what Taslin and Sheeno's return to Sandy Point could do for basketball here. This is certainly a development to watch!" said Rameese Belboda, PRIDE Coach.

Team Manager Randy Desuza gave special thanks to the companies that have thrown their support behind PRIDE Basketball, and who have shown great confidence in what the coming months hold for basketball in Sandy Point.

"We're excited to bring the full power of our reach, innovation and creativity to partner with PRIDE in it's quest to help grow the game of basketball in the community!" said Mr. Stachio Williams- CEO- Open Interactive, Inc.

Join the hunt and follow the PRIDE by searching ‘Sandy Point Pride Basketball ’ on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, for the latest club news, scores and updates.
