BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS the Federation continues to celebrate Diplomatic Week, Foreign Affairs Minister the Hon. Mark Brantley has given his appreciation to the men and women working to push St. Kitts andNevis’ agenda internationally.
Speaking at the recent launch of Diplomatic Week, Minister Brantley welcomed the large number of Heads of Mission and those representing the Federation’s interest overseas.
He explained that Diplomatic Week brings tremendous benefits to St. Kitts and Nevis as it partners with other nations.
“I am therefore exceedingly glad to have been afforded the privilege of taking the baton to lead this year’s celebrations. Permit me, from the outset my friends, to extend special welcome to members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Diplomatic Consular Corps.
“These men and women continue to labour in the sometimes difficult vineyard of diplomacy in far flung capitals the world over. They seek always to advance our country’s foreign policy agenda while at the same time addressing the needs of our citizens in the Diaspora.”
On that note, Brantley said it was a delight to have the Diplomats in the Federation, where they could have firsthand knowledge of the happenings in the country.
“It is my hope that this enriching experience will send you back with more vigour to serve the people of our beloved St. Kitts and Nevis,” he dded.
Brantley told the representatives that the door to St. Kitts and Nevis is forever open to them.
Diplomatic Week was first celebrated in 2007 and had a hiatus for a number of years before its resuscitation this year.
The Week runs from April 3-8 with a number of representatives from St. Kitts and Nevis returning home to be joined by Diplomats and Honorary Consuls from various countries.
