By: P.A.M, Press Release

(P.A.M COMS):- The now 51 year old Party, the People’s Action Movement wrapped up its annual convention on Sunday 10th 2016.

The event served as both an opportunity to speak to the solid present and bright future of the Party but also its illustrious past. Candidates and representatives from all represented constituencies addressed the gathering at P.A.M Headquarters. They informed the audience of their achievements in just one full year in office and what is yet to come.

The convention was privileged to have Hon. Floyd Green of the newly elected Jamaica Labour party as its guest speaker. Hon .Green is the Youngest Parliamentarian currently serving in Jamaica’s Parliament and serves as Minister of state in the ministry of Youth, Education and information. He spoke to the absolute need for youth involvement and leadership in all areas of the country’s development.

Hon. Green implored the attendees and those listening to rally with their party and government as taking over as a new administration is a difficult thing; he revealed that the Team Unity concept is leading the way in the Caribbean in terms of how elections and parties can coalesce for the common cause of good governance.  He closed to a standing ovation by giving kind words to the people of the federation and promising to be back very soon.

The party’s leader the Hon. Shawn Richards representative for constituency #5 and deputy Prime Minister closed the day’s proceedings with a multi-faceted presentation which included his continued commitment as leader of the 51 year old party. He promised the Party will do the necessary to strengthen and solidify its women’s and youth Arms, as without the women and youth no institution can be successful.

Hon. Richards reminisced on Party’s past accomplishments in government. Its role in making St.Kitts and Nevis the country with the highest growth rate in the Caribbean and Latin America. He went on to highlight the PAM/NRP coalition achievements in infrastructural developments such as Port Zante, the new Judicial Complex, opening the South East peninsular for development and much more.

Hon. Richards reminded the audience that PAM must do its part to make sure that Team Unity remains strong and that a strong P.A.M leads to an even stronger Team unity.

The convention was graced with the presence of the current Prime Minister Dr.Timothy Harris; our first Prime Minister Dr Rt Hon Sir Kennedy Simmonds, first deputy Prime Minister Amb. Michael Powell, Former Ministers: Hugh Heyliger, Richard Caines and the first female Parliamentarian Constance Mitchum, his Excellency Sam Condor and his wife Jean Condor and other members of the diplomatic core.
