Junior Achievement Press Release

    April 20th, 2016 -- The April 06, 2016 cocktail meeting marked the first of events to be hosted by His Excellency, Sir S W Tapley Seaton, GCMG; CVO; QC; JP, Governor General of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, on behalf of Junior Achievement St. Kitts and Nevis.  It was at this forum during his welcome and brief remarks, Sir Tapley Seaton announced his acceptance to become patron of the Junior Achievement Organisation and promised to continue to support the Organisation and its Mission. Sir Tapley Seaton disclosed that his involvement with the Organisation commenced when it was introduced to the Federation by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank in 2004.
     
    In attendance at this JA Cocktail Meeting were representatives of business houses, financial institutions and other stake holders, who were informed of the Junior Achievement’s Mission, Vision and Programs.  Mr Michael Blake, Senior Education Officer made a brief, yet passionate address on the impact of the Junior Achievement Programs within the schools’ education system.  

    The featured address was delivered by Mr Jason Charles, Chief of External Affairs for Alpine Securities and an active volunteer for Junior Achievement of the Virgin Islands (JAVI).  His address catalogued his personal involvement in JAVI and its genesis which was as a result of his employer, Mr Charles Kim, who is an alumni of Junior Achievment in the United States.  Mr Charles stated that as a result of student participation in the JA Company Program, there is now a new breed of youthful entrepreneurs in the USVI.  

    He further encouraged the audience to give support to JA programs and beneficiaries, noting that the end product will be work ready employees, young financially literate individuals who recognize that entrepreneurship is a valid option.

    Following the brief ceremony, the attendees were treated to cocktails and interacted with the board members and staff of Junior Achievement St. Kitts and Nevis and pledged their support to the Program. 

    The JA Board and staff will like to publicly thank the Governor General, Sir Tapley Seaton for hosting the event, the attendees, volunteers and sponsors of Junior Achievement and look forward to continued support.
