Sunday 1st May 2016  Roseau, Dominica – Dominica’s aspiring young footballers braved the heat to participate in the Digicel Kickstart Clinic, a bespoke programme delivered by Manchester City FC coaches that gives the young athletes a chance to be among the selection of players who will attend the Digicel Kickstart Academy.

The players worked hard during the two day programe and the coaches welcomed their tenacity on the field. City Football Schools coach, Lewis Childs, who led the Digicel Kickstart Clinic in Dominica said; “The players took a while to get adjusted to the tempo due to the heat, but they eventually got into the rhythm and gave a good account of themselves.”

The Clinics are designed to hone the skills and talents of the Caribbean’s aspiring players and, half way through the Clinics phase of the programme, the coaches are continuing to unearth great talent across the region.

At the end of the two-day clinic, Jomiah Timothy, Kiano Martin and Perry Charles were the top three boys selected to represent Dominica at the Digicel Kickstart Academy. Jomiah Timothy, one of the players who was selected, said:

“As one of the players selected to represent Dominica at the Digicel Kickstart Academy, I feel very excited and I hope that with training from the Academy, I can further my career in football. I encourage young boys aspiring to try out for the programme to ensure that they have discipline and proper conduct in order to achieve their goals.”

The other two players who were chosen, Kiano Martin and Perry Charles, were also honoured to be selected and are looking forward to meeting and interacting with their peers from across the Caribbean and Central America.

The young footballers will join the other selected players from across the Caribbean and Central America at the week-long Digicel Academy where they will receive another round of intensive training. At the Academy, the boys will have the opportunity to impress the coaches further, in the hopes of being among the top players who will get the chance of a lifetime to train at the City Football Academy, Manchester City FC’s elite training and youth development facility in Manchester, England.
