Charles E. Mills Secondary dominates first night of SCASPA’s Best in Class Quiz Competition!

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 4th 2016 - Twenty-eight  students converged at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank last evening, Tuesday 3rd May 2016 for the academic clash of SCASPA’s Best in Class High School Quiz Competition - night one.

     

    The event, sponsored and organized by the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority, brought together teams of third formers from the Washington Archibald High School, Cayon High School, Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Basseterre High School, Verchilds High School, Saddlers Secondary School and the evening champs the Charles E. Mills Secondary School

    Participating students were quizzed in individually and team rounds on the core subject areas of the third form curriculum. Categories quizzed on included English Language, Mathematics, Local History and Geography, Integrated Science and SCASPA Affairs. 
     
    After an intense two hour square-off, the Charles E. Mills Secondary School emerged victorious for the first night with a whopping forty-five (45) points while the second position team, Immaculate Conception Catholic School scored a close forty-three (43) points. The Washington Archibald High School followed with thirty-five (35) points, while Saddler’s Secondary captured forth position with Thirty (30) points. Basseterre High School came in fifth position with twenty-eight (28) points. 
     
    The highlight of the evening, and for the very first time in six years, was a battle of advancement occurring  between Cayon and Verchilds High Schools who both tied twenty-five (25) points in the sixth position. At the slip of it all the Verchild’s High School won the battle and managed to advance to the second round of the competition which will be held on Thursday, 5th May, 2016.  
     
    Best in Class has raised SCASPA’s profile in the community and among the schools and students of St. Kitts and has generated a greater understanding of and appreciation for SCASPA’s role in national development.
     
    The preliminaries are set for 5th, 10th, 12th, 17th, and the Grand Finale on 24th, May 2016 at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at 7: 00 p.m nightly and 8:00 pm for the grand finale.
