Junior Achievement St. Kitts and Nevis Press Release

By: JASKN, Press Release
May 18th, 2016 -- Junior Achievement St. Kitts and Nevis (JASKN) and the National Entrepreneurial Development Division (NEDD) formed an entrepreneurial alliance to mark the 11th Junior Achievement Trade Fair which was held on Friday May 13, 2016. The products displayed epitomised creativity with colour and efficacy, with a focus on recycling using materials such as rope found in the ocean, toilet paper rolls, clothes pins, bamboo, plastic bags, wool, and oil drums.

The participating schools were Basseterre High School, Charlestown Secondary School, Gingerland Secondary School, Verchilds High School, and the Washington Archibald High School. In addition, two clients of the NEDD were also given the opportunity to showcase their goods to the general public in this jointly organized exhibition.

The objectives of both entities are very similar although the beneficiaries may be different, in that, Junior Achievement Programs are primarily youth/school focused.  Some of these objectives include: creating opportunities for marketing goods and services, providing training in the areas of management and quality assurance, assist in establishing a strong local entrepreneurship culture and exposing micro, and small businesses to the general public.

Although for several years JASKN and NEDD have worked together on the assessment of the students business plans, this event has sealed a stronger partnership to ensure that a strong local entrepreneurial culture is been cultivated.

Without the injection of support from the business community, and other stake holders, the Trade Fair would not have been possible.
