BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO men are in police custody following the find of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition as well as a quantity of marijuana this morning (May 23).
A communiqué coming out of the Public Relations Office of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force stated that an early morning search operation was conducted in the New Road area, which resulted in the seizure of a .45mm pistol, seven rounds of matching ammunition and a quantity of marijuana.
It also stated that two men were taken into custody and charges are likely to be filed upon completion of the investigation.
However, from the manner in which the communiqué was written, it did not clearly state if the two men were suspects in the pistol and ammunition find or that of the marijuana, or both, as it indicated that “six (6) warrants executed in this morning’s (May 23) Police operation”.
This morning’s seizure brings to 10 illegal firearms and over 116 rounds of assorted ammunition removed from the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis.
