BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BY all accounts, the White Sands Swimsuit competition of previous years were second-to-none, but this year’s is shaping up to trump them all.

Recently, six young and beautiful ladies were revealed at the White Sands Rio (2016) launch party at Carambola and each displayed a unique confidence suggesting that the judges might have a more difficult task this year.

The group is quite diverse with one hailing from Brazil, one from Guyana, another from Santo Domingo and the others from St. Kitts and Nevis.

The contestants, in order of appearance, are Suzana Rocha of Brazil but who is a student of the UMHS; Olivia Walters, a Movado Modelling Agency model, who hails from St. Peter’s; Yulayki Santiago who lives in Newtown but hails from Santo Domingo; Anesha Joseph, a Guyanese who is a former Ms. Guyana World Pageant contestant; Marsha Phillip, a model from Newtown; and Michema Bradshaw, a model and CFBC student from the McKnight area.

The girls strutted their stuff across the White Sands Rio Launch stage and gave the audience a taste of what is to come on the afternoon of June 26, 2016.

The Carambola Beach Club’s Director and member of the White Sands Committee, Daislyn Sharpe, told SKNVibes that the committee always “tries to achieve diversity because we think it makes the competition more interesting. We embrace the diverse backgrounds of our contestants as this creates interest and adds flair to the event.”

The girls will be bursting onto the stage in their fanfare appearance after which they would appear in two judged segments: Identical Swimwear and Individual Swimwear. The finale would follow.

A number of attractive prizes are up for grabs and this year’s winner will be the proud holder of the White Sands Rio Swimsuit Competition Title.

Last year’s competition was won by Eusha Johnson.
