BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PLANS for the staging of the 20th edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival is on stream, according to Committee Chairman Faron Lawrence.

Speaking with the media at the recent unveiling of the six beauties who will be the face of the festival, Lawrence explained that based on the feedback he and the Committee members received, the public is very much enthusiastic about the event.

“Plans for the Music Festival are going well and people are very excited. The feedback that we are getting is that people are happy with the line-up that we have and the 20th anniversary of that Festival promises to be a real blast.”

The unveiling of the beauties, which was held at the Sky Ultra Lounge on Friday ( May 21), formed part of the Committee’s thrust to be creative and provide a festive atmosphere for the public.

Lawrence explained that since the festival evolver, the organizers have been seeking to maintain the trend of providing something new for fans.

“In the 19 years I have been involved in the Music Festival, I have tried new things and it end up adding value to the festival.”

In urging fans to come out and support the June 23-25 event, Lawrence noted that it is an accomplishment for the festival to be staged a 20th time, adding that the people of St. Kitts and Nevis should take ownership and be part of the celebrations.

With major regional and international acts already lined up, the Chairman stressed that it continues to be a major challenge for the Committee to solicit the services of the calibre of artistes who they had over the past 19 years, since they have a “small budget to bring champagne artistes”.

“You know when you have been in the business for 20 years you develop a reputation in the industry, so we have the advantage of people knowing us and who we are, as well as knowing that we are serious.”

Asked about the remaining performers who would be added to the line-up, Lawrence informed that the Committee is still working on that and the names would be released in the coming weeks.

Last month, the Music Festival Committee released the names of several artistes who will be performing at the event, including 50 Cent, Dexta Daps, Nicha B, DeJour and The Original Burning Flames.
