BVI, 24 May 2016 - Public Officers will celebrate Public Service Week 2016 from June 20 – 27 under the theme, “One Public Service:  A Celebration of Togetherness”.

The annual week of events will see government ministries, departments and statutory bodies coming together for various activities and sporting events in the spirit of One Public Service.

The week will also recognise and reward the successes and achievements of officers and give members of the public an opportunity to gain a better appreciation for the work of Government.

Mr. Andrew St. Hilaire and Mrs. Felina Moss from the Ministry of Communications and Works are the co-chairs of this year’s celebrations.  The Office of the Deputy Governor continues to provide support and sponsorship for the annual event.

Highlighting the 2016 theme, which was selected following a survey of public officers, co-chairs Mr. St. Hilaire and Mrs. Moss stated, “One Public Service is a collaborative effort towards building healthy relationships with colleagues, maintaining good workplace morale and in turn boosting the level of satisfaction of all our customers.”

A number of activities are planned to build camaraderie in the Service including a Family Fun Day inclusive of decathlon activities, All-Star Basketball Game, Open House Video Competition, Employee Recognition Ceremony, Retirees Dinner, Employee Trivia Competition and Community Service Day. Public officers are encouraged to liaise with their team captains to sign up and be a part of the week’s activities.

The public is encouraged to come out and support public officers during the week which begins with a march leading to a mass gathering on the grounds of the Central Administration Building on Monday, June 20 at 8:45 a.m.
