I acknowledge the protocol already established.

    Ladies and gentleman, distinguished guests

It gives me great pleasure to extend congratulations to the Premier and the Government on the occasion of the Official Opening of the New Queen Elizabeth II Park and Children’s Playground in this special year of Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday.

For some years the park was more vision than reality and many will remember Mount Savage but the vision of this new facility has now become a reality.

The new park was inspired to facilitate and promote a healthy lifestyle for the community and tourist that visit our shores. The park has been outfitted with a walking/running path, enough space to accommodate many activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

The desire to make use of this splendid facility has been very evident over recent weeks and months with runners and families every morning and evening sneaking under the fence to enjoy the park clandestine.

The newly renovated children’s playground has been upgraded with more activities that will keep the children engaged and create a safe place for children to play.

This facility is one of which we should all be proud, visitors and residents alike. Our pride should extend to how we treat the facility and do our part to maintain its beauty.

I would like to commend all those who worked hard and contributed in any positive way to this project. I want to thank you all for turning a vision into such a splendid reality. I am sure that the Queen Elizabeth II Park and Children’s Playground will serve the BVI Community and all those who visit our shores for many years to come.

My Congratulations and best wishes to all.
