BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS - ACTION in the SKNFA Championship Playoffs kicks off this evening (Jun. 10) with the first of the best-of-three games between SOL Island Auto Conaree and FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets.

Following a break to facilitate the national team’s participation in the second round of the Caribbean Cup qualifiers, the teams will be going all out for bragging rights and being crowned National Champions.

Additionally, the champion team of the 2015/2016 League will walk away with an increase in prize money. The victors will receive $20,000 for their efforts, which is a significant increase over previous seasons, according President of St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association, Anthony Johnson.

The first whistle blows off at 8:00 pm and a large gathering of supporters is expected to witness the encounter.

Technical Director at the SKNFA Lenny Lake, said the playoffs is a tournament that places immense pressure on teams, especially those in the finals.

“The teams don’t have much time to recover, and a lot of times the tournament tests the mental strength of both the coach and players...how they can recover and win the second game,” Lake said in a release.

He also said: “I am seeing two keenly contesting teams, and I am looking forward to an exciting match.”

Cayon and Conaree had both fought their way pass tough opponents to make it to the finals of the competition.

In the four-team playoffs, Cayon shot down top team Winners Circle Newtown United 2-0, went under to Conaree 2-1 and then drew with Winners Circle Newtown United nil-all.

Conaree, on the other hand, defeated St. Pau’ls 3-2, edged their neighbours Cayon 2-1 and drew with St. Paul’s nil-all.

Meanwhile, Lake is urging fans to come out in their numbers in support of their teams as they did in the early rounds of the playoff competition.

“We will like everybody to come out and support their team. We at the SKNFA are very pleased and happy to have these two teams going into the final. We want to wish them the best.”
