Vehicle and driver discovered in Cranston Ghaut

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SOMETIME Friday morning (Jun. 11) a vehicle with its driver within was discovered in Cranston Ghaut.
It is believed that the driver may have lost control, causing the vehicle to run off the island’s main road and ending up in the Ghaut.

District ‘B’ Commander Superintendent Lionel Moore told SKNVibes the police were alerted of the situation at about 11:00 a.m. and the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services was summoned to the scene to provide assistance.

The driver, whose name was given as Leroy James, alias ‘Baza’, was reportedly taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he is nursing “serious injuries”.

He is said to have been the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

While the authorities are not yet certain about what time or how the incident occurred, it is under investigation.

Just about one year ago, James, was involved in a traffic accident that claimed the life of a Newton Ground man.

That incident occurred on the evening of June 14, 2015 when the motor omnibus he was driving – H1766 – struck Laughton Lake.

Lake died on the spot and a post mortem determined that he died of “hypovolemic shock due to multiple traumatic lesions as a result of a traffic accident” a police press release revealed.

James was subsequently taken into custody and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 with two sureties and his driver’s license was suspended.

SKNVibes understands that that case had not been disposed of.
