Bobsy’s Superwings robbed in broad daylight; attendant assaulted

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - INDIVIDUALS are still in shock at the brazen robbery that took place on Friday afternoon (Jun. 10) at Bobsy’s Super Wings in the Frigate Bay area.

The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. when a male, who hid under the cover of a hat, shades and a piece of material tied across his face, entered the establishment and demanded that he be given money.

Bobsy’s is a family-owned business and one of the family members, Shannon Hawley, told SKNVibes that they believe it was a targeted heist.

“We picked him up on cameras staking out the area earlier in the day. He came from the golf course, jumped over a wall that was behind the business, came into the building demanded that the girl hand over the money. She initially resisted…”

Hawley said after resisting, the assailant assaulted the attendant by striking her in the face several times before making his way to remove the cash.

Hawley indicated that the incident was over within minutes as the bandit made good his escape with an undisclosed sum of money and left the attendant nursing a swollen face.

She said the video footage was handed over to the authorities and investigations are being made.

Asked about beefing up security at the establishment, Hawley informed that there is security but because of the barefacedness of criminals, consideration has to be given to possibly contracting 24-hour security.

She said it is unfortunate that the little money made has to be pumped back into security because of the state of affairs.

“If they can do this to a business which is in a well-trafficked area, imagine what they can do to other businesses in other areas.”

Persons having information about the incident are asked to contact the nearest police station or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477(TIPS).
