BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) is reporting that no player was disciplined ahead of tonight’s (Jun. 17) final encounter in the Premier League playoffs.

Addressing media representatives at a press conference today, General Secretary of the Association Stanley Jacobs disclosed that no action was taken against the players, since the body is still reviewing official game footage which would give them a clear indication of what transpired.

“There have been some instances that were brought to our attention, but there is a process of review which is still underway. In terms of reviewing the footage, that process has begun and it is incomplete at this time.”

During game two of the best-of-three Finals, tempers flared with players exchanging harsh words at each other, while in some cases jerseys were tugged and shoves were exchanged.

At the media briefing, representatives of both teams explained that there is no hard feelings between the units, adding that the players fought long and hard throughout the season and would want to walk away victorious.

“On Tuesday (June 14), it was the Finals, the playoffs, and we have been working hard throughout the year, so of course everyone would be giving it their all and playing their best to win. Tempers might flare! It’s the playoffs and everybody is going to be gunning for the win,” captain of Flow 4G Cayon Rockets told reporters.

Meanwhile, Delwayne Delaney, Public Relations Officer of Sol Island Auto Conaree FC, indicated that he was not aware of what scuffle a reporter was speaking about in his line of questions, but pointed out that all the games were highly fought encounters that brought out the best in the players.

“It was a fiercely competitive match, and come this evening it would be just as fierce again. We battle all year from since October to June for the coveted title, to be crowned 2015/2016 Champions, and it comes down to 90 minutes or 90 minutes plus.”

General Secretary Jacobs noted that the Final Four has established itself as one of the major events in the Federation and, as such, he wants a crowd to come out and give its support.

“The Final Four has over the years developed its own brand and it is one of the marquee events on the St. Kitts and Nevis calendar.”
