BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- THE Federation has won the rights to host the Finals of the Caribbean Premier League scheduled for August.
According to information reaching SKNVibes Sports, the Government was recently made aware of the successful bid, which will be the second time that St. Kitts and Nevis will be playing host to the championship matches.
In an effort to ascertain the authenticity of that information, last evening (Jun. 26) this publication visited CPL’s official website and found there was no report pertaining to the Federation’s successful bid.
However, while on Facebook, a known affiliate and supporter of the Team Unity Government had announced that the Semi-Final and Final matches would be played in the Federation.
SKNVibes Sports understands that that information was not to be made public and that a press conference is scheduled for later this evening at which time an official announcement would be made.
Federal Government officials had recently thrown their hats in the race after a bidding war between Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago, which saw the latter continuing negotiations after their South American counterparts withdrew their offer.
SKNVibes Sports received information that the CPL organizers were asking for a price tag of US$ 4M for the Semi-Final and Finals.
The Caribbean Premier League bowls off on Thursday (Jun. 30) in St. Kitts at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium, where the home team, the SKN Patriots, will take on the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Meanwhile, the Local Organizing Committee for the Patriots disclosed that the box office for tickets would be officially opened today.
Tickets for the tournament were already on sale but had to be purchased online.
