BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SHOCKWAVES spread through the Old Road community and the Federation earlier today (Jul. 13) when news that a St. Vincent native murdered his girlfriend just feet from the Old Road Police Station.

Initial reports which reached this publication suggested that an individual was stabbed and might have survived.

Further information, confirmed after this media house visited the scene, indicated that the victim did not survive the ordeal.

Acting Commander of District ‘B’ Superintendent Travis Rogers told SKNVibes that according to information he had received, “the Police were informed just around minutes to 9:00 about a murder. Initial investigations is that the alleged offender came to the police station and reported the matter that he had killed his girlfriend”.

He said the deceased is identified as Samantha Peniston – said to be in her late 20s - and the alleged offender is Cleveland Lee – said to be in his early 40s, both of St. Vincent.

Peniston was stabbed in the Station Street, Old Road home – opposite the police station - which both reportedly shared and, according to Rogers, an incident might have occurred before the stabbing took place, possibly including a blunt object of some sort.

When SKNVibes arrived on scene, it was observed that Crime Scene Technicians from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force along with other police officers were at the scene processing it and gathering evidence.

Rogers said he could not confirm or deny rumours that Lee attempted suicide after Peniston was fatally wounded. He reported however that Lee sustained some sort of injury and its cause cannot be ascertained until further investigations are made.

He is currently in hospital receiving treatment for his wound(s).

Peniston’s remains were removed from the dwelling space by the Crime Scene Technicians and transported from the area in a hearse.

She is the Federation’s 17th homicide victim for the year.

    Investigations are being made.
