Police Press Release 17/7/16: Report of arrest, convictions and other activities

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 17, 2016, (RSCNPF):  Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period 11 to 15 July. 

     

    ARREST AND BAIL:
    Arrested: Amal Whyte of St. Johnson Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of driving without a valid and unexpired drivers license and driving without insurance.   Bailed: Amal Whyte of St. Johnston Village was granted bail in the sum of $8000 in the like sum for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on July 21, 2016. 

    Arrested: Chezyown Herbert of Lodge Project was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for driving without insurance and driving an unlicensed vehicle on the Island Main Road in Lodge. 

    Arrested: Jacinth Johnson of Tabernacle was arrested, formally charged and cautioned with a warrant in the first instance duly signed for the offence of Obstruction while in the execution of her duty on the 12th July, 2016 at Carty's Pasture Tabernacle Village. Bailed: Jacinth Johnson was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 E.C.C for her appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on September 5th 2016.  

    Arrested: Abba Nicholas Phipps of North Pelican Drive Bird Rock was arrested, formally charged and cautioned with a warrant for the offence of Obstruction, battery on police and assault. 

    Arrested: Jamal Slack of Upper Fiennes Ave was arrested, formally charged and cautioned on a warrant in the first instance for breach of injunction protection order SKBMDV2016/0027 made against him on the 12th May 2016 by Her Honor Miss Harris. Offence was committed between the June 26th 2016 and July 12th 2016 at Basseterre. 

    Arrested: Leroy Pemberton of Newcastle Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned in the First Instance for the offence of Wounding with Intent. 

    Arrested: Alista Gilbert of Chapel Street, Dieppe Bay was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, Bailed: Alista Gilbert was granted bail in  the sum of  $4000.00 E.C.C in the like sum for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on July 25th 2016, at 09:00 hrs in the forenoon. 

    Arrested: Artheslton James of Chapel Street, Dieppe Bay for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, Bailed:Artheslton James was granted bail in the sum of sum of $4000.00 E.C.C for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on July 25th 2016 at 09:00 hrs in the forenoon.  

    Bailed: Phillip Jones of Tabernacle Village who was arrested and charged for Robbery was bailed in the sum of $50,000.00. He is to report to Tabernacle Police Station on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 7am and 6pm. He is to have no contact with the Virtual Complainant or any witness involved in this case neither by himself nor through the actions of his agents. 

    Bailed: Abiodun Mark Akannoda, of  Wades Garden was granted bail in the sum of $3,000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court at 9o'clcock in the forenoon on the August 1st  2016.  

    Bailed: Vidal Hendrickson was granted bail in the sum of $3000 E.C.C for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on 5th September 2016. 

    COURT CONVICTIONS:
    In matters at the District "B" Magistrate court presided over by Her Worship Mrs. Hector,  Kiston Powell of Station Street Old road who was charged for Possession of 496 grams of Marijuana and possession with intent to supply pleaded guilty to both charges.  He was reprimanded and discharged for Possession and was fined $6000.00 to be paid by 31st July 2016 or if in default serve three (3) months in prison. 
    In matters at the Basseterre Magistrate Court Presided over by Her Honour Ms. Mallalieu and in the case the Chief of Police vs Trevon Rogers the defendant was found guilty for the offence of Receiving and sentenced to Twelve (12) months in Her Majesty’s Prison. 

    OTHER ACTIVITY: 
    Larceny from the person: Police is investigating a report of larceny that occurred about 9.00am on Friday, July 15 along South Independence Square Street.  Investigations reveal that the VC was walking along the named road when unknown male walked up behind her and pulled away her purse. The Purse contained one Social Security card, one National Bank Card, one Scotia bank card, one Cooperative Caribbean Credit Union Bank Card, one St. Kitts Nevis Driver’s License and $950.00 East Caribbean Currency. Officers from the CID are investigating. 

    Robbery:  Police is investigating a report of robbery that occurred around 11.00pm on Friday, July 15 at the St. Johnson Community Centre. Investigations revealed that a group of five persons were using the facility playing cards when three (3) masked men, dressed in dark clothing one armed with a pistol entered the building and robbed the group of their personal items including cellular phones, laptops and wallets.  The scene was processed by the Crime Scene Unit and the investigation is ongoing. 

    Building Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a breaking and larceny that occurred at Upper Project Saddlers at about 9.30pm on 10th July 2016. The resident reported they went to sleep and when they awoke at about 5.30am on 11th July 2016 she discovered the house broken into. A number of items were stolen.  The scene was processed and the investigation continues.  
     
    Building Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a breaking and larceny that occurred at Cunningham Street at about 5:30 pm. Residents reported one family member returned home to collect a bunch of keys and saw a young man who does not live there coming from the yard when questioned as to why he was there he stated that he is a friend of the family. Later that evening when the entire family returned they discovered that a number of items were stolen including a St. Kitts and Nevis passport’s.  The investigations continues.   

    House Breaking and Larceny: Police is investigating a breaking and larceny that occurred at Marshall Alley. At about 6:00 am resident secured their house an left for work. Upon return home from work at about 2:25 pm and upon entering the house they discovered that the middle north western bedroom Miami louvre was twisted and broken open.  Upon checking the other bedrooms they observed that the rear north west bedroom door was opened.  The residents son stated that they left home for work at about 9:00 am and he secured all windows and doors. He  further stated that upon checking the front south east bedroom he discovered that his personal electronics were gone along with other house items. 

    Search Warrant Executed: A combined search team of men of the district “B”, members of The SKNDF and the K-9 Unit executed a search warrant duly signed, on the premises in Farms Site for controlled drugs, arms, ammunition, stolen goods and documents that may have been used in the commission of a crime. Nothing to satisfy the warrant was found. 

    Traffic Accident: fourteen (14) traffic accidents occurred on the federation’s roadways (10) in St. Kitts and (4) in Nevis over the of this report.  

    Citizen Safety: Police continue efforts to ensure citizen safety by conducting vehicle check points, stop and searches, searches of abandoned properties and lots.  These efforts are all being done to rid our communities of illegal firearms and ammunition, drugs, and other instruments that can be used in committing crimes.
