Police Press Release: Be of good character, live a life of integrity! Commissioner tells new Constables

Commissioner of Police Mr. Ian M. Queeley delivering remarks to Police Training Class 40

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 20, 2016 (RSCNPF):  Thirty new Police Constables stood on parade on Tuesday (July 19) in front of family and friends and heard inspiring words from Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ian M. Queeley. 

     

    Commissioner Queeley recognized the desire to serve by the new officers, "I must thank each and every one of you for your service and sacrifice as you answer the call and undertake this most strenuous but noble path of law enforcement.  He added, "your training was designed to prepare you for the road ahead. Throughout your training you have been taught what our expectations are of your duty and performance as police officers. We expect you to have respect for others, compassion, honesty, integrity, courage, attention to duty and adherence to law, policy and procedure."
     
    The Commissioner was frank with the new officers, and said, "you are going to be challenged. You are going to be tempted. You are going to find yourselves in very difficult situations. I implore you to always remember your duty to your people, your family and yourself. Never, compromise your integrity," he admonished.  
     
    Commissioner Queeley continued and told the graduating class that in this group can be a future Commissioner and other ranks within the Police High Command."...Strive to succeed ladies and gentlemen, always remember to do your very best, work hard; consistently maintain your integrity and honesty."
     
    Underscoring the role of family support in the Police Service, the Commissioner expressed thanks to parents of the officers, "parents, I want to thank you for the role you have played in your son or daughter's success. You have helped to mold them into individuals who want to serve our country..... They stand here today, because of your support. They stand here today because of the values you instilled, values of service above oneself.........“Service to our country”.  This ceremony marks the formal joining of class 40 to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.  I now welcome all of you  into your new Police Family.
     
    Class 40 was comprised of 21 males and 9 females.
