Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 20, 2016 (RSCNPF): Police Recruit Training Class # 40 passed in review on Tuesday (July 19) at the Police Training Centre in Newtown. Thirty freshly minted Police Constables were presented in parade before the High Command and Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, dignitaries, family members and friends.
The military style ceremony included a "fun" drill display by the two platoons of graduating officers in which they formed the number "40" in recognition of their class, much to delight of the gathered audience. Another special treat at the ceremony was a 'drumline' demonstration from the Police Drum Corps. The Drum Corps is a community initiative for youth, sponsored by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.
The highlight of the afternoon ceremony was the announcement and recognition of the "Best in the Class." To the supportive applause of family and friends and the other guest, four officers received awards for their outstanding work during training. The officers and awards were as follows:
Police Constable No. 845 Tarique Jones was awarded as "Best at Rifle Shooting", "Best at Self Defence" and "Best at Physical Training.
Being recognized for as the "Best at Drills", "Best at Police Subjects and for the Best Results in the Final Exam" was Woman Police Constable No. 835 Asheshia Paul.
The award for the "Most Disciplined Trainee" was presented to Police Constable No. 832 Anthony Freeman.
"Most Outstanding Student" was Police Constable No. 865 Valdon Rogers. He was also recognized as "Best in Pistol Shooting." For his accomplishments he was presented with the Baton of Honour by Commissioner of Police Mr. Ian M. Queeley, He received "The Prime Minister's Plaque" and the Trophy for the Most Outstanding Student from the Prime Minister Dr. The Honourable Timothy Harris.
All the officers have received their first assignments and should start reporting to stations next week after completing out processing from the Training Centre.
