BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Federation’s male under-17 footballers will be going all out this evening (Jul. 24) at the Warner Park Football Stadium to remain undefeated in their CONCACAF Caribbean Football Union Group One qualifiers.
This comes as the team drew (2-2) their opening encounter with Barbados on Wednesday (Jul. 20).
Team SKN opened their account in the fourth minute through Dylon Morton while Javaughn Brookes added a second in the 57th minute, but a spirited fight back from the Bajans through Ray Francis in the 56th minute and Avery Chandler in the 90-plus1 ensured both teams each share a point.
The Junior Sugar Boys then returned on Friday (Jul. 22) evening to edge out Dominica 2-1, when a Javaghn Brooks 73rd minute strike gave them the victory.
Deneilson Patrick found the back of the net in the 27th minute and 12 minutes later Dominica’s Randel Coipel scored the equalizer.
The youngsters will lock horns with table toppers Cuba, which is also undefeated in its two opening games as the Spanish-speaking country easily disposed of Dominica 9-0 in their opening encounter and then return to brush aside Barbados 5-0.
Cuba sit on top of Group One with six points followed by St. Kitts and Nevis on four, while Dominica and Barbados are yet to put points on the board.
Action continues this evening from 4:30 p.m. when Barbados battle Dominica and SKN square off with Cuba at 7:00 p.m.
The top two teams will qualify for the next round of the CFU tournament to join the other group’s winners and runners-up.
