BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Federation’s lone entrant in the 2016 Olympic Games Men’s 200m failed in his quest to bring home glory to St. Kitts and Nevis when he failed to make it out of his qualifying Heats.

Running today (Aug. 16) in the last of the Heats, Antoine Adams had a very slow start in his race and was not able to make any impact under the midday sun.

The young Adams was seeking to make the Federation proud by qualifying especially after it has been having a disappointing meet this far. The only athlete to make an impact during the Heats is sprint champion Kim Collins who made it to the semi-finals in the 100m.

Adams, who is the team captain, appeared disappointed after crossing the line in a time of 20.49 to finish in fifth position. The race was won by Canadian sprint sensation Andre De Grasse with a time of 20.09s.

His was not fast enough to give him one of several spots for the fastest losers.

Adams will now turn his eyes on the 4x100m relay with the likes of Brijesh Lawrence, Kim Collins and company later in the week.
