BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A police officer is said to be in “good condition” after suffering a stab wound at the hands of a reportedly mentally unstable man whom he attempted to apprehend.
The officer, who is said to be attached to the Newcastle Police Station, Nevis, was with another and both went to “apprehend a man suspected of a wounding in Nevis”, a police press release informed.
“The Police Constable and his partner were executing a search warrant for the suspect when he was injured. The officer sustained a knife wound and was treated and is warded at the Alexandra Hospital in good condition.”
SKNVibes understands that the man whom the officers attempted to apprehend was wanted for allegedly wounding a pastor during the previous night.
It is further understood that the pastor had just exited his church when he was reportedly struck or beaten with a piece of pipe.
The pastor was treated at the Alexandra Hospital and subsequently released.
The suspect, according to the police press release, was taken into police custody.
