JAMKIT Association Nevis Jamaican Independence & Olympic Celebration Social 2016

By: JAMKIT, Press Release

Basseterre, St Kitts;  24 August 2016:  A Nevisian's review of the JamKit Association Jamaican Independence & Olympics Celebration Social held in Nevis on Saturday, 20 August 2016:

Curried goat – I never had it so nice, I tried it thrice!  Manish water – well I never know banana skin could eat.  I was cautious but after the first bite I wanted more than what was in my bowl.

Music galore, clean, sweet and pure!  Festival songs – well it is said you learn something new every day. Today was my first time knowing of Jamaican festival songs.  When these were playing, especially This is The Land of My Birth, what a proud set of people I saw!  You want to see devout skanking, check Jamaicans once their songs are been played, especially ones with the name JAMAICA in it.

Fellowship – I sat aside and looked at the camaraderie.  Who would have known they were not related by blood.  I suddenly got a sense that we Kitti Nevies need to be like this, especially when “we out a we yard”.

It was a social that I absolutely loved and enjoyed and was glad for the invite by my dearest friend and glad that I accepted;  an afternoon of pure Jamaican delight!

One Jamaican had this to say:

“Man, never know we would have such a nice turn out.  It was very good and I wish we can do it again.  It was very good food.”

    Another Jamaican said:

I had a very good, ‘leaned back’, relaxing and enjoyable time last evening, as I wallowed in the dynamic aura of true Jamaican friendship, fun and festival feelings, which seeped from the pores of every single one of my country men, women and youths.

I didn't speak to many and only a few spoke to me, but the familiarity buzzed around me all the time I was there watching the camaraderie of my people.

    Yet another said:

Yesterday was awesome!  I had fun. It was my first time at a Jamaican event in Nevis and it was good.  Big up everybody that came out;  not even the rain could stop the fun and energy of yesterday.  Bless up all Jamaican near and far.  Up up up like 7.........

    One Love!
