By: Georgia Atieno, OPEN Interactive, Inc.

    PRESS RELEASE

ST. KITTS AND NEVIS CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT
    TO BE SHOWCASED IN DUBAI

…positive program performance attributed to significant reforms in due diligence and
introduction of digital management of applications…

Basseterre: October 10, 2016: Les Khan, the newly appointed CEO of the Citizenship by Investment Unit of the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis, will be one of the guests speakers at this year’s Citizenship by Investment and International Residence Summit to be held at the Crowne Plaza, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The priority for Les Khan will be to showcase the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment program, the oldest program of its kind, at the two-day high level summit starting Monday October 10th. The summit will bring together government representatives from the Middle East, Europe and the Caribbean as well as private sector representatives with special interest in global citizenship and migration.

Amongst the issues on this year’s conference agenda are political and policy consequences of the second citizenship concept, trends in global migration, effective due diligence of CBI Agents, risks to CBI programs and different government policy changes affecting migration.

Khan has worked for CIU, the Government Unit which handles all matters concerning Citizenship by Investment in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, over the last two years on a consultative basis, spearheading its transformation in order to update its processes and systems to meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive global market.

Despite the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Program experiencing administrative challenges in the past, the current Unity Government, through the Citizenship by Investment Unit, put in place reform measures to streamline due diligence procedures bolster faster processing of applications and improve controls and efficiency.

“We want potential investors to know that we offer one of the best citizenship by investment programs. Our CBI Program continues to be a strong contributor to the country’s GDP; and we can confidently say that this is as a result of the successful reform efforts we have put in place including due diligence adaptations and the introduction of digital management procedures “says Khan.

“Presently a unique case management system is in place that allows the CIU and service providers to enter applications 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The success of these reforms means that applications can be processed within 45 days. This is a tremendous time saving from the previous 6 months and plus. A Technical Committee has also been set up to ensure that approved projects meet the very high standards that attract investors, “adds Khan.

The vision of the Citizenship by Investment program will be further presented to potential investors on October 12, 2016 in St. Kitts and Nevis.

    About CIU

The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) is the Government unit which handles all matters concerning Citizenship by Investment in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Citizenship by Investment Program was established in 1984, making it the longest established program of this kind in the world. It has distinguished itself from many other similar programs by rigidly enforced investment requirements and meticulous due diligence procedures.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis utilizes this program to attract investors of good character to make a substantial contribution to the development of the Federation. These investors are then given the opportunity to apply for citizenship and passport within the strict guidelines of the law and the relevant regulations.
